Baptism

What is the Meaning of Baptism?

Getting lowered into the water represents our sinful nature being dead and buried with Jesus, and as we are lifted out of the water we enter into a new life with Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.

Why Should I Be Baptized by Submersion?

We believe that it is important to follow the example set by Jesus and every other follower of Christ. Mark 1:9 “At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.”
Acts 8:38–39 “Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water...”
Jesus commanded it.
Matthew 28:19–20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” 1 John 2:3 “We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.”
